The Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors (BPD) and the Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work (AGESW) are seeking nominations for the Mit Joyner Gerontology Leadership Award. This award was created in 2005 to honor Mildred (Mit) C. Joyner for her leadership and vision of gerontology in baccalaureate social work. The purpose of the award is to promote leadership in gerontological social work practice for undergraduate students through scholarship, best practices and/or community connections.

Eligibility:
BSW students, social work field instructors who work with BSW students and faculty who teach in BSW programs are eligible to be nominated for this award.
Acknowledgement of award:
The recipient of the award will be acknowledged at the BPD conference and AGE-SW meeting at the CSWE Annual Program Meeting. The recipient of this award will be expected to give a paper, workshop or presentation at the spring BPD Annual Conference. The recipient will receive a plaque and a $100 honorarium.
Nomination form:
Two nomination forms are required. At least one of the nominators must be a member of BPD or AGE-SW. The Selection Committee requests that the letters of recommendation provide: 1. a brief summary of characteristics, qualities, behaviors and/or activities that exemplify the nominee's outstanding performance and, 2. examples of leadership in the areas of scholarship, best practices and/or community connections in gerontological social work education. Please free to attach any additional comments and/or examples of the nominee's outstanding leadership in gerontological social work.
The deadline for accepting nominations is August 15, 2008; the person selected will be notified during the fall to provide that individual time to plan for her/his presentation at the BPD conference.
