Effective January 2009, AGESW is the official sponsor of the Journal of Gerontological Social Work (JGSW), which is now being published by Taylor & Francis. Amanda Barusch will be assuming the role of editor-in-chief of the journal. Carmen Morano will fill the role of managing editor. We are extremely grateful to Rose Dobroff for her vision in creating the journal and to both Rose and Joanna Mellor for their consistent leadership over the years with the journal. We look forward to building on the fine work accomplished by Rose and Joanna and to working to further enhance the quality and efficiency of the JGSW.
Beginning in January 2009, receipt of the JGSW is a benefit of membership in AGESW. AGESW members will receive 8 issues of the journal per year.

The Journal of Gerontological Social Work (JGSW) presents information needed to stay abreast of the changing and controversial issues of today's growing aging population.

The Journal of Gerontological Social Work does more than simply help social workers provide care to the elderly - it also helps social workers in their dealings with patients' families and with administrative, supervisory, and research needs. The journal occasionally devotes an entire issue to one topic of timely importance. Examples of past single-topic issues include: new developments in home care services; aging and vision; international perspectives of gerontological social work; and social work with Alzheimer's patients.

A native of California, Amanda Barusch completed a BA at Reed College, and MSW and PhD degrees in Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley. She has published articles in leading social work and gerontology journals, and authored seven books. Her recent titles include: Love Stories of Later Life: A Narrative Approach to Understanding Romance, published by Oxford University Press, and Foundations of Social Policy: Social Justice in Human Perspective, with Wadsworth Press.
Dr. Barusch joined the faculty at the University of Utah, College of Social Work in 1985, and served as Associate Dean for Research and Doctoral Studies (2003-2007) and Director of the Social Research Institute (1995-1998). Since June of 2007 she has held appointment as Professor of Gerontology at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. Her personal blog and website are located at http://www.amandabarusch.net.
Dr Barusch serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Poverty, and is a devoted member of the Associa-tion for Gerontology Education-Social Work and a fellow in the Gerontological Society of America.
