Welcome to AGESW

The Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work (AGESW) provides leadership and assistance to social work educational programs and professionals in order to advocate for the integration of gerontological content in undergraduate and graduate social work education; to promote the teaching of gerontology to all social workers; and to develop short and long-term perspectives in relevant curricular developments.

Mit Joyner Gerontology Leadership Award

The Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors (BPD) and the Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work (AGESW) are seeking nominations for the Mit Joyner Award. This award was created to honor Mildred C. Joyner for her leadership and vision to gerontology in social work education. Social work educators or field instructors who work closely with BSW students or undergraduate social work students are eligible to be nominated.

2008 AGESW Awards

Each year AGESW recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of social work and aging and celebrates achievements of its members at the AGE - SW Awards ceremony. The AGESW Board of Directors has established the following award categories. A decription of each of the award categories may be found by clicking "AGESW Awards" on the left or by clicking here.

The awards will be presented at the reception during the AGESW membership meeting at the 2008 Gerontological Society of America Annual Scientific Meeting in National Harbor, Maryland.

The 2007-2008 AGESW membership term began September 1, 2007. Click here to go to our Membership page where you can download a PDF of our 2007-2008 application form.

AGESW changing web site address

Effective Friday, September 14, 2007, AGESW changed it's web site address from http://www.agesocialwork.org to http://www.agesw.org . For a period of time, both addresses will work, but you should change your bookmarks to reflect the new URL.

Also, AGESW has changed hosting services for the web site - which will offer better reliability and new features.
